Inspire your readers by lifting up the pages of the Bible on a symbolic representation of the coming fulfillment of prophecy: a time when instruments of war will be turned into tools for peace: swords into plowshares. I wanted to create something that would make displaying our family bible attractive; something that would cause those who enter our living room to be drawn to the pages of scripture, and even to touch the bible, to turn it's pages, and to read the Word's of God. Designing the sword stand itself was the most challenging part. In order to get the handle to face sideways so the shelf had something to hang over and so that the whole thing looked something close to a plowshare, I had to not only "bend" the blade front to back, but also "twist" it front to side (and all from a solid length of oak). The curves had to allow for weight distribution and the final mounting on the base needed to compensate for the weight of a bible. The stand is made from 3 types of hardwoods: Red Oak, Walnut, and Honduran Mahogany. The blade is made from a solid length of Oak; the handle is hand-engraved and also made from oak. The removable Bible shelf is made in the pattern of a sunrise and cut from a solid piece of Mahogany. The shepherd-crook braces are oak. Finally, the base itself is made from several layers of walnut. The comments I received from those who have seen this stand encouraged me to make this custom design available to others. It is not only an honor to God, but it stimulates conversation about the Bible, the Return of Jesus, and the exciting fulfillment of prophecy. What a nice change that is from talk of politics, professional sports, or the weather. Although the inscription could come from Micah 4:3, this one comes from ISA 2:2-5: "In the last days the mountain of the Lord's temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. Many peoples will come and say, 'Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.' The law will go out from Zion, the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the Lord." Can you see something like this in your Church or home? There is a lot of "art" available, but unfortunately, not much that is attractive, practical and an honor to the King of Kings. This may not be the thing for you, but I encourage you to find a way to make the Word of God attractive. Others will see that your heart is where you have put your emphasis. If this does hit a cord with you, let me know, and I would be glad to make one for your home. If you feel it would be more appropriate in your Church, I would encourage you to get your Pastors approval before commissioning this as a donation. This bible display is simply a symbolic reminder of the One who fulfills all prophecy. To God be the Glory Forever and Ever! Amen.
